A Tulip Collection
A Tulip Collection by taiche
Although different tulip colors carry distinct meanings – yellow tulips symbolizing cheerful thoughts, white conveying forgiveness and purple representing royalty – a Turkish legend may be responsible for the red tulip’s symbolism. The story goes that a prince named Farhad was love struck by a maiden named Shirin. When Farhad learned that Shirin had been killed, he was so overcome with grief that he killed himself – riding his horse over the edge of a cliff. It’s said that a scarlet tulip sprang up from each droplet of his blood, giving the red tulip the meaning “perfect love.”
Read more: Symbology of Flowers
Several nations have a flower or plant that embodies their history. The tulip has been a long-standing symbol of the Netherlands since the early 17th century. Tulip bulbs were sold throughout Europe, and bulbs of rare species sometimes cost more than a house in Amsterdam during that time. The bamboo plant of China resembles strength and resilience, while the peony is supposed to help bring wealth and good fortune to the carrier.Tulip
Declaration of love; perfect loverTHE MEANING & SYMBOLISM OF
TULIP
Originally from Persia and Turkey, tulips were brought to Europe in the 16th century, where they got their common name from the Turkish word for gauze (with which turbans were wrapped) – reflecting the turban-like appearance of a tulip in full bloom. By the 17th century, the popularity of tulips, particularly in the Netherlands, became so great that the price of a single bulb soared to new heights, causing markets to crash and putting into motion “tulip mania.”Although different tulip colors carry distinct meanings – yellow tulips symbolizing cheerful thoughts, white conveying forgiveness and purple representing royalty – a Turkish legend may be responsible for the red tulip’s symbolism. The story goes that a prince named Farhad was love struck by a maiden named Shirin. When Farhad learned that Shirin had been killed, he was so overcome with grief that he killed himself – riding his horse over the edge of a cliff. It’s said that a scarlet tulip sprang up from each droplet of his blood, giving the red tulip the meaning “perfect love.”The 11th wedding anniversary flower, it’s said that the tulip’s velvety black center represents a lover’s heart, darkened by the heat of passion. With the power to rival roses in their red variety and the sweet charm to express simple joy when yellow, it’s no wonder that in addition to all its other symbolism, in the language of flowers, a tulip bouquet represents elegance and grace.Click the links to see all of my Redbubble

“Foxes” - Homage to Franz Marc #1913#
In China, fox animal symbolism revolved around the afterlife. Lore has it that a fox sighting was thought to be a signal from the spirits of the deceased.
Fox animal symbolism takes a turn of intelligence in the Celtic realm, as the Celts believed the fox to be a guide, and was honored for its wisdom. The Celts understood the fox knows the woods intimately, and they would rely upon the fox as their guide in the spirit world.
In Japan, the fox was considered one of the rain spirits, and a messenger of Inari the rice god. Here the fox also symbolizes longevity and protection from evil.
In Native American lore, fox animal symbolism deals with two interpretations. One perspective (Northern tribes) observes the fox as a wise and noble messenger. The other (Plains tribes) views the fox as a trickster playing pranks, or worse – luring one to demise.
Overwhelmingly, cultural consensus on fox animal symbolism deals with:
cunning, strategy, quick-thinking, adaptability, cleverness and wisdom

Tiger Portrait
The tiger is a symbol for power and energy all over the world. It is featured prominently in Chinese mythology and is the second best behind the lion in the badge of military ranking.
The tiger is a potent symbol across Asia and in many cultures. It has since been a fixture of tattooing in especially in India, Malaysia, Burma, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and Cambodia. The tiger symbol is associated with power, passion, ferocity and sensuality. In addition to these it represents beauty and speed, cruelty and wrath and its appearance in dream is usually a sign of new power or passion that has awakened within an individual.
In Asia the tiger is associated with power and mightiness of kings. This position is similar to those of Lions found in the Middle East and Europe. Koreans on the other hand named the tiger the King of the Animals. In India, god Shiva was seen in the aspect of the destroyer and was always depicted as wearing a tiger skin and riding on a tiger. Universally, the tiger is a symbol of power and strength and can also be a power of destruction and violence. The Chinese have images of tiger in their charms when casting away evil spirit.

Osteospermum plants originate from South Africa and the name is derived from the Greek osteon (= bone) and Latin spermum (= seed). Osteospermums belong to the daisy family ( Compositae / Asteraceae), hence their common names: African Daisy or South African Daisy, Cape Daisy and Blue-eyed Daisy. There are about 50 species, native to Africa, 35 species in southern Africa, and southwestern Arabia. They are half-hardy perennials or subshrubs. Therefore they do not survive outdoor wintry conditions, but there is still a wide range of hardiness.

Honeysuckle Bouquet
In the “Secret Language of Flowers”, honeysuckle represents being “united in love” and devotion because of the flower’s clinging nature. In Scotland, woodbine appears in wedding ceremonies to represent the love that clings without harming anyone. Among the French, giving honeysuckle to a partner represents generous love, and in China dreaming of honeysuckle means passion. In European lore, a honeysuckle blossoming near your home foretells a wedding within one year.
